Take them no matter what your skill level. When visiting a new location, a local photography guide can get you to the right places and give you tips on how to get good shots. Sure, put your own identity into the work but local knowledge will only help you get the most for your time and efforts. This shot was taken on Cape Cod during a morning photo tour with Betty Wiley. Betty is an accomplished professional photographer who lives on Cape Cod and creates beautiful fine art images.

Monday, June 8, 2015 at 11:37AM On a morning walk, this cloud caught my attention. I was several blocks from a good location to photograph it. I proceeded to the location, a village green, and found three compositions that I liked. I took these iPhone shots and edited them with Snapseed. Don’t limit yourself to one composition. Keep moving, keep framing, and take several shots.

Took my sidekick, Mara, along on this shoot. I think having her in this shot really helped add scale and interest to the image. Here, we are about a mile out through the marsh all the way to the river.
