Just For Fun

Sometimes the photography is secondary.  But it is great to have a camera along to record vacations and other activities.  These images were shot during our recent ski vacation at Steamboat Springs, CO.  My Canon G10 was in my jacket pocket almost everywhere I went - on slope and off slope.  It was fun to capture the variety of images that summarize the experience.

Being Creative With Images

This triptych is part of a recent order.  The decorator selected Highlands Blue 12 and asked that it be converted to a triptych with a 30”x30” center piece and two 18”x30” end pieces.  When I converted the original image to the overall 66” wide to create the three pieces the height became 44”.  Since the decorator needed the height to be 30”, I had to choose a 30” slice that retained good composition.  This is what we came up with and had printed on canvas to be installed in floating frames.  Obviously a large original image file was necessary to created this piece.  The original was shot with the Canon EOS 1DS Mark II and was resized in Photoshop.

bistro c. v.

We are recognizing our friends at bistro c.v. in Steamboat Springs, CO.  It is a wonderful place to dine and this also gives me an opportunity to again post one of my photographs taken there.  As the photo shows, the fine dining experience includes great care in the presentation of food brought to the table. So, in addition to a great meal, I get a perfect setup for some travel photos.

Abstracts From Real Subjects

Any idea what this is?  Actually, it is life vests hanging from a stand at a canoe rental station.  I used the Corel Sargent brush to turn this real life image into a painterly abstract.
